¬ Senior Specialist EHS-Radiation Safety Officer
Responsible for providing compliant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to operating departments at the Rahway site, specifically all radiation safety activities. Integrates EHS programs into daily operations to assure regulatory compliance, achieves continuous performance improvement, meeting EHS performance objectives. Partners with operations to develop objectives to achieve these goals in alignment with site business goals and values.

This EHS professional will be required to:


  • Perform as the site Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) to ensure compliance to the site radiation license and site program.¬ 

  • Maintain a radiation safe working environment for employees, vendors, contractors and the public.

  • Assure timely completion of all regulatory submissions, notifications, etc. required to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local EHS requirements, as well as Company standards.

  • Ensure the safe shipping and receiving of radioactive materials.¬ 

  • Perform radiation safety audits of equipment and facilities.¬ 

  • Maintain appropriate documentation based on current national, state and company requirements.¬ 

  • Maintain a comprehensive and well-organized record keeping and filing system that is conducive to frequent and varied audits.¬ 

  • Conduct a current, continuous, documented, and effective training program in a manner that ensures all employees are cognizant of and understand the program rules and regulations.

  • Prepare required technical documents, reports, training and operating procedures as assigned for ionizing and non-ionizing radiation program.

  • Interpret radiation regulations affecting the site and translate applicable requirements into strategic, cost-effective compliance approaches.

  • Provide guidance to other team members to complete work assignments and to achieve department goals/objectives. Ability to train and mentor less experienced professionals.

  • Remain current with all radiation regulations and as they apply to the license.¬ 

  • Review processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to recognized EHS regulations, standards and guidelines.¬ 

  • Perform relevant incident investigation and reporting as appropriate.

  • Communicate and work constructively with designated regulatory authorities; participate in regulatory inspections and internal audit processes.

  • Complete other EHS work assignments to contribute achieving department goals/objectives.

Qualifications
Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Health Physics or a related technical discipline.¬ 


Required Experience and Skills:

  • Meets the training/background check/experience requirements for a RSO in accordance with state regulations.

  • Minimum of 5 years applied professional work experience.¬ 

  • Proficiency in the areas of radiation compliance.

  • Awareness of project management techniques and budgeting skills.

  • Experience working with Federal, State, and/or Local regulatory agencies.¬ 

  • Working experience with the NRC State FDA, FAA and DOT regulations for Radiation Safety.¬ 

  • High level of effective communication, verbal, written, computer and mathematical skills as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment required.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Master's Degree; concentration in Health Physics or a related technical discipline preferred.¬ 

  • Minimum 1 year as a Radiation Safety Officer experience strongly preferred.¬ 

  • Project Management experience¬ 

  • Experience with NJ waste regulations¬

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
