2019 MRL Discovery Sample Management Analytical Chemistry Intern

The Discovery
Sample Management Department within Merck Research Laboratories located in
Rahway, NJ is seeking an undergraduate summer intern. The summer intern will be exposed to core
instrumentation critical to modern pharmaceutical analysis, process characterization,
and drug substance physical attributes determination. Additionally, interns will learn the
fundamentals of sound analytical and physical chemistry method development
necessary to problem solve as a member of an integrated team in support of the
Merck small and large molecule pipeline.
The Discovery Sample Management Department will expose the intern to various
expert groups in the area of sample management, high-throughput analysis,
molecular and materials characterization including high end mass spectrometry
techniques to further broaden the experience.
The intern
will also attend departmental and team meetings to provide a wider perspective
on the drug discovery process in the pharmaceutical industry.
This is a full- time internship position. Housing
subsidy is not available as part of this program and must be funded 100% by the
student.
Education:
+ Required: Candidates must be currentlypursuing a bachelor?s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemicalengineering, material science or pharmaceutical science.
RequiredExperience and Skills:
+ Candidates must be available to workfull-time for up to (12) consecutive weeks beginning in May or June of2019.
+ Candidates must have completed atleast (2) years of studies toward bachelor?s degree by June 2019.
PreferredExperience and Skills:
+ Candidates should have basic laboratory skillsand research experience preferred, including experience with high performanceliquid chromatography using various detection.
